In 1957, the BBC aired a hoax broadcast of a family in Switzerland harvesting Spaghetti from a “spaghetti tree.” The program was broadcast as a joke for April Fool’s day, but because spaghetti was a relatively unknown food in the UK, many of the viewers who watched the program took it as fact and even called in to inquire where they could get their own spaghetti tree for harvesting.
